Holistic Healing Treatment
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that originated in China over 3,000 years ago that embraces the whole-body view of healing. Dr. Diane Aslanis of Aslan Acupuncture is pleased to offer acupuncture as part of an integrative medicine discipline that incorporates holistic modalities of treatment. This is a minimally-invasive treatment, and has been shown to help patients restore and maintain their physical well-being. Dr. Aslanis of Aslan Acupuncture offers this service as a complementary medical treatment that can be used in conjunction with conventional medical treatments.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
This treatment utilizes thin needles, which are inserted into the skin at certain points to stimulate the body’s natural healing capabilities. These points are known as acupoints, and they typically run along meridians, which are specific pathways throughout the body. When the energy in the body, qi (pronounced “chee”), is in balance, the body is healthy. During treatment, the needles are placed into the skin for as little as a couple of minutes, or even up to twenty minutes.

What’s The Difference Between Chinese And Japanese Acupuncture?
Both Chinese and Japanese styles are great options for restoring your well-being. However, they do have some differences when it comes to techniques. The following are some key differences between Chinese and Japanese styles:
Japanese style places a great emphasis on palpation, which is a technique of feeling the body for areas of tenderness, tension or other indicators of an underlying condition. In contrast, the Chinese style may focus more on the visual assessment of a patient.
While the Chinese style utilizes larger needles, the Japanese style uses thinner needles.
In Chinese style, needles are inserted more deeply into the skin. In the Japanese style, the thinner needles are placed more shallowly into the skin.
