Annual Well-Woman Exam
Annual well-woman exams are an important part of self-care for all women from adolescence to post-menopause. Yearly gynecology exams are a vital preventative health care measure that includes screenings for gynecologic cancers and sexually transmitted diseases, as well as breast exams. Dr. Diane Aslanis encourages all women to be proactive in caring for their reproductive health throughout their lives.
At your annual wellness exam, Dr. Aslanis will ask you about your health history, exercise, nutrition, lifestyle habits and menstrual cycles. Your height, weight and blood pressure will also be recorded. The exam will include:
- Pelvic exam with Pap smear
- Bloodwork ordered as needed
- Clinical breast exam
- Depending on age, order a mammogram
- Age-appropriate testing ordered
The annual wellness exam aims to identify any potential health risks and educate patients on healthy lifestyle choices. It is important to discuss any health concerns or changes in your health with your doctor. Keeping your annual wellness exam will help ensure any health issues will be caught early and treatment, if required, can begin as soon as possible. Early detection and yearly appointments are the leading ways to assure you maintain a good quality of life.

There are several tests that can be performed to determine the cause of your heavy or prolonged bleeding. After an examination and testing, Dr. Aslanis will provide the best treatment options for you so that your menstrual cycles are more manageable.
